Dalat Blue Mountain Cottage: Rooftop Room – Blue Mountain
Dalat, Lâm Đồng, Vietnam
Về phòng này
Our place includes two beautifully renovated houses on a ridge top with commanding views of a forested valley in the middle of the city, less than two kilometers from Ho Xuan Huong Lake. The room has a queen bed, en suite bath and coffee bar. The room opens on a 30 square meter roof deck with BBQ for Dalat’s brilliant days, and a cozy snug den with a working fireplace for the chilly nights. The living room and library are available to all guests if our adjoining house is not rented in full.
The room
Guests have access to the roof deck, BBQ, cozy den with fireplace, a bright living room, library and a fully equipped kitchen. The house is stocked with the best quality local coffee, tea and honey – the perfect accompaniment to getting lost in the wonderful view or a good book. We also provide complementary pastries each morning, served on the roof deck in good weather or in the cozy den when it is raining.
We have a washer and dryer that guests can use.
Hi from Rob and Chau! We are a couple that met in Vietnam more than 12 years ago (Rob is from the US and Chau from Vietnam). Over the course of our marriage, have lived in 5 different countries and we share a love of travel. The kind of place we love to stay when we are traveling is not just a place to drop your bags and sleep, but makes us feel a part of the place we are visiting. That is what we have worked hard to do at our home in Dalat. We renovated the houses to be open to the incredible views with salvaged colonial-era windows and doors and huge balconies and we love to share what we love about Dalat with guests.
We live in Ho Chi Minh City, but we travel to Dalat often for business. So that guests will always have a local to turn to, Kien helps us host guests and is always available to help out during your stay. Kien has a degree in English from Dalat University and is a licensed guide – sharing his town and helping guests to enjoy Dalat is his passion.
Our Favorite Places
Eating and Drinking
Primavera – owned by an Italian husband and Vietnamese wife team, it has incredible pizza from a wood fired oven and is located in a beautiful old townhouse. This is our family favorite – we eat here every time we are in Dalat.
Bun Cha – bbq pork with noodle. This Northern Vietnamese street food is not common in Dalat, but this little shop’s bun cha is absolutely delicious.
La Viet Coffee – Great coffee sourced from farmers around Dalat and a mission to educate people about good coffee. The café is in their warehouse and while there you can take a tour and learn about coffee growing, roasting and brewing.
Secret Bar – Just a short walk from the house, this bar makes their own excellent infused gins. The bar also has a great view (but not as good as our roof deck, of course!). It’s a simple place, but they take their cocktails seriously and it shows.
Afternoon Tea at Le Rabelais – In the Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel, afternoon tea on the terrace of Le Rabelais restaurant is a great indulgence. It is a bit pricy, but the hotel is a beautifully restored time capsule, wandering around the public rooms is a treat in itself and the tea cakes are delicious.
Things to Do:
High Ropes Course and Coasters – The high ropes course at the Datanla Falls area is a real thrill. They have excellent safety equipment and give everyone a thorough training before starting. There are also two coasters that plunge down the gorge to the waterfall – like a roller coaster in the jungle. Our kids make us do this almost every trip – but we enjoy it as well.
Bi Doup Nui Ba National Park – The car ride up to the park is a great trip in itself, but Bi Doup Nui Ba gives a sense of the beauty of the high forest that attracted the French colonial government to build Dalat in the first place. If you came to Dalat for its nature, Bi Doup Nui Ba has towering ancient trees and misty vistas. It is truly majestic.
Zoodoo – It is about 45 minutes out of town, but it is a really well run petting zoo with some surprising (and surprisingly friendly) animals including alpacas and wallabies. A great experience for animal lovers.
Dalat Palace Golf Course – Truly one of my favorite golf courses anywhere. The design is simple and classic, but the setting is incredible – rolling green hills, tall pines and flowering hydrangeas everywhere. If you don’t have time for 9 holes, there is a driving range and putting green.
Crazy House – The crazy house is a big attraction in Dalat, but if you are hesitating because it seems cheesy, you should go. It is an amazing personal vision – though strange – and really well executed on a limited budget.
The address is 3/5 Hoang Hoa Tham (on Hoang Hoa Tham, 30 meter turn left at Vat lieu xay dung Thanh Danh, go ahead 100 m, turn left. go ahead 50 m). It’s a bit difficult to show so we create a clip on youtube for you to show the driver, click here (Website hidden by Airbnb)
